Washing, folding and sorting laundry seems to be, at times, a cruel game meant to try one’s patience. Shirt after shirt, sock after sock, and sheet after sheet. Ugh! Fitted sheets are the worst! Folding them can be a nightmare and sometimes a complete mystery. With their different angles and gathered corners, they make you just want to throw them into the linen closet in a giant ball.
We want to take the hassle out of the folding equation by helping you fold your fitted sheets into a nice flat square, which will pleasantly sit on the shelf in your linen closet.
Follow these next four steps, and you’ll be well on your way to getting all the laundry folded and put away like a pro:
Step 1: Lay out the fitted sheet on the ground, or a flat surface, with the fitted corners facing up.
Step 2: Turn one side of corners inside out, then fold the fitted sheet in half horizontally and tuck the inside out corners into the opposite corners, point to point.
Step 3: Similar to step 2, you’ll be tucking corners again. Turn one set of corners inside out, fold fitted sheet in half and tuck the corners into the opposite end. You should end up with all four corners in one corner.
Step 4: Next, take the two elastic sides and fold them to create a straight edge. Once you’ve completed that, you can begin to fold it just as you would a flat sheet, giving you a nice neat square.
Stop leaving your sheets in a wrinkled, balled up mess in your linen closet, and really take these steps to heart to have a nice looking fold. With a little practice, you’ll have this process down in no time, making your laundry-folding duties less of a hassle and more of a quick and easy task.
