Cool Top 5 in San Diego
1. Visit a theme or amusement park. San Diego is so well known for its good weather that the National Weather Channel rates it as having the second best weather in the United States. You can count on warm, breezy 70-to-80-degree weather year round. With that kind of pleasant weather on your side, you can’t go wrong visiting one of the following San Diego parks: Balboa Park, Belmont amusement park, San Diego Zoo, San Diego Zoo Safari Park, and SeaWorld San Diego.
2. Eat some delicious Mexican cuisine and visit some of San Diego’s Spanish and Mexican heritage. Take your pick from historic sites across the city, such as Mission San Diego de Alcala and Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. You’re not fully appreciating these sites without trying the authentic Mexican food along the way.
3. Get in a ball game. Take your pick between Major League Baseball’s San Diego Padres or National Football League’s San Diego Chargers. Not into either of those sports? San Diego plays its fair share of rugby and golf, too. San Diego is one of only 16 cities in the United States included in the Rugby Super League, and the PGA’s Farmer’s Insurance Open is played at municipally owned Torrey Pines Golf Course.
4. Play at the beach. Take your pick from this long list of San Diego’s best beaches:
Torrey Pines State Beach, Black’s Beach, La Jolla Shores, La Jolla Cove, Children’s Pool Beach (La Jolla), Windansea Beach, Marine Street Beach, North Pacific Beach, Pacific Beach, Mission Bay Beaches, Mission Beach, South Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Sunset Cliffs, Dylan’s Beach
Cruising out of or into San Diego? Its cruise ship industry is the second largest in California. Numerous cruise lines, including Celebrity, Crystal and Princess, operate out of San Diego.
5. Shop Old Town, Seaport Village and Gas Lamp Quarter. You’ll get the best selection in mainstream fashions and authentic San Diego wares in these two locations. Lots of dining options to choose from as well. Plus, you’ll find the Cariloha store in the Gas Lamp Quarter. The variety of shopping and dining is catered toward visitors of all budgets, interests and styles – it’s for everyone.
These are merely five cool options to get you started. You may have five others up your bamboo sleeves that are much more exciting. Don’t keep them all to yourself. Please do tell.
