Cariloha Friday! And, for us Utahns, it’s Pioneer Day weekend! Hooray! Growing up in Utah, July 24 or Pioneer Day was like celebrating July 4 all over again. It was the same day; i.e., fireworks, parades, barbeques, sparklers, red, white and blue, etc. Best of all, it’s a paid day off in Utah! No wonder we love it. So, throw on a pioneer bonnet, push a hand cart down the street, and have a family barbeque in honor of the pioneers who helped settle the west back on July 24, 1847. If you’re not into pioneers, just feast your eyes about on all the great, bizarre holidays for this weekend.
As you begin to test the weekend waters, be sure to get your Cariloha style on, letting it take you to a new ice cream parlor, restaurant or sushi bar. Be sure to eat something sweet with your mom, friend, child, or sibling.
Let’s get started. Read your fortune cookie out loud and slurp down a delicious ice cream soda (today), then, eat your favorite junk food and have a tug-of-war (tomorrow), next, sprawl out in a palm-stretched hammock and chomp down a bowl of Fruit Loops (Sunday), finally, eat a bowl of vanilla ice cream and cry out, YEEHAW! (Monday). Have a happy Pioneer Day weekend!
