Kings’ Shops at Waikoloa Beach Resort has celebrated the opening of Cariloha with store owners Chris and Stephanie Davis during a Hawaiian blessing ceremony.
The name, Cariloha, hails from a blending of Caribbean style with the Hawaiian Aloha spirit. This is embodied by the store’s exclusive collection of bamboo products and island-inspired merchandise, which are sure to attract visitors looking to capture their Hawaiian memories.
Cariloha offers an entire store experience revolving around bamboo-based products. Clothing, hats, accessories, bed sheets, bath towels and jewelry are all made from unique bamboo blends. Bamboo apparel is known to have several qualities which surpass cotton; it is twice as soft to the touch as cotton.
Customers are encouraged to touch and feel the luxuriously soft difference of their apparel, bedding and towels. Bamboo is up to three degrees cooler than cotton; naturally antibacterial, hypoallergenic and repels odor, which all can be handy on a hot day on Hawaii Island.
Bamboo is one of the most renewable resources on the planet with some species growing up to three feet per day. The Cariloha retail establishment doesn’t claim to be the ‘greenest’ store on the planet; but rather a step in the right direction.
“We believe Cariloha’s dedication to the regeneration of bamboo resources illustrates our commitment to helping grow the Hawaiian economy,” Stephanie Davis said. “All store guests will receive a free bamboo lei, and a percentage of the first month’s profits will be donated to the Hawaiian Chapter of the American Bamboo Society.”
“Cariloha is the perfect addition to our lineup of merchants, which on Hawaii Island are exclusive to the Kings’ Shops,” general manager of Kings’ Shops Steven Schwartz said. “You have to come in to personally experience the soft touch of bamboo to believe it.”
Kings’ Shops is located within the Waikoloa Beach Resort at 250 Waikoloa Beach Drive and managed by Jones Lang LaSalle.
