Cariloha Bamboo Clothing – Review

I first found out about bamboo sheets about six years ago and became fascinated with the softness and breathability of the sheets. Since then both my husband and I have become huge fans of bamboo sheets… So, what makes bamboo so special?
It’s said to be the new cotton, since it shares many of the same properties and offers a few additional advantages. It is more anti-bacterial than other fabrics, which are very absorbent, causing them to hold dampness in. Because bamboo wicks moisture away, it’s great for your circulation and skin, preventing over-heating or chills from trapped-in moisture. It’s probably one of the softest fabrics I have tried so far.
During our last Caribbean cruise, we discovered Cariloha. Caribbean style and Hawaiian aloha were the inspiration behind Cariloha – a combination of the two words. With more than 20 years vacationing, working and serving in the Caribbean and Hawaiian Islands and the cruise ship ports throughout the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexican Rivera and Bahamas, the Cariloha team became steeped in the culture and lifestyle of the islands and the beachfront shopping experience. Cariloha offers a selection of clothing, accessories and of course bedding and bathing products for the entire family’s enjoyment. To my delight, I discovered that indeed Cariloha products are sold here in the USA, and they do carry not only the bedding items, they also have a selection of clothing products available on their site, and I was really interested in trying their apparel to see if the apparel products are as good and comfortable as I was expecting.
For this review, I received two pieces from the Cariloha apparel line. The Black/Gray Genesis Dress – this lively, lightweight summer dress is highlighted with hibiscus flowers that gives this soft-to-the-touch dress a really attractive look.
The dress is very comfortable. I’m a huge fan of anything made of bamboo, and this dress is certainly a great addition to my wardrobe. The dress is made of 66% viscose from bamboo 28% Cotton and 6% spandex for a hint of stretch that makes the dress a versatile piece of clothing, as you can easily use it during the summer. You can actually add a short jacket or cardigan when the temperature starts to drop – gives you a different and a bit warmer outfit.
The deep V-neck front gives the dress a playful touch and adds a sassy touch to the design. The Genesis dress features wide arm openings for added comfort and is about 38″ in length which hits around the knees. The dress is comfortable, flattering and easy to wear. The Genesis dress has a retail price of $85.00.
The second piece I received for this review was the super cute Bamboo Lined Handbag – Blue/White Flowers. This small bag 11” X 6” x 4” with 5.5” handles is as cute as a button and while the bag is small, in size, it does have a good depth allowing you to carry a few of your essentials; actually a lot more than what I expected.
The bag is very lightweight and features a vivid blue background with contrasting oversized flowers that gives this cutie a very unique look.
The bag features a magnetic clasp in the inside you will find a zippered pocket along with two more side pockets on the inside. The bag also features Cariloha’s world-exclusive bamboo lining for added durability and ultra-softness. The bag has great craftsmanship and attention to detail. The bag is available in three different color combinations. No matter which color you choose, these little bags are made to make an impression. The bags have a retail price of $38.00.
