Craving the sun’s brilliant Vitamin D infusion? Us too. And, with the summer sunshine here to stay, you need to capture your rays without getting burned. As temperatures rise, the relaxing summer heat can become almost unbearable. Don’t let the heat get you down. Beat it and stay cool this summer with these easy tips.
Hydrate
That’s rule number one for every day. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Drinking enough water becomes extremely important when the summer heat, or exercise, causes you to sweat. When you sweat, your body is using that water to try and cool you down. If you don’t have enough water in the tank, your body will over heat, and no one wants that to happen.
Dress for the Weather
When it comes to wearing something that’ll keep you cool, it’s not about wearing less. What you need to do is find the right fabric. This summer try wearing clothing made from bamboo fabric. Bamboo is lightweight, breathable and will help keep you cool when you’re out and about under the summer rays. It’s also a great sustainable fabric.
Block it Out
Closing the curtains or the blinds is a small task, but it works wonders to cool down your house. You might think you need darker blinds to block out the sun completely, but if they have sun-deflecting white on the window side, it can reduce the amount of heat that passes into your home.
Fan Tricks
A window fan is a great way to ventilate your house. While your first thought might be to have the blades blow air in, try facing the blades outside to pull the hot air out of the house. Or, if you want to feel that cool air, try placing a bowl of ice in front of the fan. As the ice melts and evaporates it will cool you off.
A little Vitamin D can be good for you, so get outside and soak up that summer sun.
