A family dilemma has been weighing on my mind lately, and I’ve debated whether or not to share it on this blog, but since it’s somewhat related to our ever-growing love for bamboo goods, I broke free from our conventional posts to talk about something a little more personal.
My wife’s aunt was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and she’s preparing for the typical, painful treatments, which should sustain and save her life. Naturally, my wife and I, along with dozens of other people in her life, want to do something productive or to give her something to help her feel better, to recuperate faster, and to reduce her pain during the healing process.
Because we don’t live nearby, we feel somewhat limited by what we can do to help. What could we possibly do? How could we make a difference?
My mother-in-law sympathized with our plight and began to brainstorm solutions with us. Without knowing too much about Cariloha’s bamboo products, other than having a bamboo towel set and sheet set of her own, she suggested that we could all pitch in and send her the ultimate comfort-care package, filled with bamboo sheets, bamboo towels, bamboo socks, and some soothing lavender lotions and what not. She wondered if we had a bamboo bathrobe, too, which ironically Cariloha does – at least a prototype that’s being developed and tested in a couple select stores.
There it is then. Bamboo is coming to our rescue. We’re packing up the Cariloha bamboo goods and mailing them out this week. It’s only a small gesture, but we hope it makes a difference in her recovery.
With all of bamboo’s intangible benefits (Zen-like aura that it radiates), along with its tangible benefits (soothing softness, antibacterial and thermal-regulating properties, hypoallergenic, etc.), we’re glad that bamboo goods are around for all of us to enjoy and hope they help our aunt to heal and rejuvenate quickly.
Have you had any personal success stories with bamboo that you’d be willing to share? Let us know. We’re seeing bamboo benefiting people in ways that we never imagined.
