With a thriving cruise industry and a growing economy, Curacao is ripe for an all-bamboo retailer like Cariloha to come along. Adding to the variety of Curacao’s colorful, Dutch marketplace, Cariloha is the only retailer on the island with an entire store experience that revolves completely around bamboo. The new 460 sq. /ft. store is located in the Renaissance Mall next to the Del Sol store — only a short walk from the cruise ships.
“When we first opened our business operation in Curacao several years ago, we had limited expectations of our overall impact,” said Isaac Grynsztein, Cariloha co-store owner. “Yet, it has succeeded in every aspect.”
Nachman, Isaac, Omer, and Lazaro Grynsztein own and operate several retail stores in Curacao, Aruba, Bonaire and St. Maarten, including 3 Cariloha stores and 4 Del Sol stores.
“In a time when there’s too much gloom and doom economically, we’ve not let our hopes fade that tomorrow is always better than today, and even more so than yesterday,” said Grynsztein. “Cariloha will lift our business and Curacao’s economic climate to even greater heights. Its impact extends to cruisers, local shoppers, local employment, and local investment that will be felt for decades to come.”
With Curacao expecting to receive 142 cruise ship visits in 2012, the Grynsteins anticipate that Cariloha will raise the bar for overall customer experience and satisfaction in Curacao; it being the first local company to offer direct shipment to the American market, and the first local store with a green concept that can be felt as well as touched.
