The 10 Best Bamboo Sheet Sets, According to Lab Testing
By Jamie Weissman & Kathleen Felton
We tested the best bamboo sheets that are silky-soft, breathable, and will feel incredibly cool on hot nights.
Whether you’re a hot sleeper or you live in a warm climate, the blankets and sheets you make your bed with can make all the difference in how comfortable you are while you rest.
Though there are many different types of sheets to consider, bamboo sheets are ideal for hot sleepers or those who live in warmer climates.
“There is a lot to love about bamboo,” says Saana Baker, a textile expert with 25 years of experience based in San Francisco. “It has a beautiful, soft and silky hand, it’s totally biodegradable, cool to the touch, and it has a nice luster.”
To find the best bamboo sheets, we conducted a blind test at our testing lab in Des Moines, Iowa. We used a predetermined methodology to evaluate each set in six categories: colorfastness, quality, breathability, fit, cooling properties, and durability.
The final rating was determined by averaging each pick’s scores across categories. We also consulted Baker for additional insight.
What We Tested
We evaluated over 30 bamboo sheet sheets for their quality, texture, breathability, and durability. For more information on how we tested bamboo sheets in our lab and at home, check out our testing process below.
Best Cooling
Cariloha Bamboo Sheets
We were impressed by the Cariloha Retreat Bamboo Sheets after testing them at home for one month. The sheets remained in good condition and as hot sleepers, we were always comfortable while we slept.
Although the brand doesn’t list this set’s pocket size, we tested them on a deep mattress and didn’t have any issues securing them. There’s even an elastic band on each corner, which came in handy as we tossed and turned all night.
These sheets have a soft and silky feel that didn’t change even when we washed them. They kept us cool all night, so we never woke up sweaty or overheated.
The sheets are offered in five colors and several standard sizes, not including twin. While they’re more expensive than other bamboo sheets on the market, we think the quality and comfort of these sheets make them a great investment.
